Call for Participation: WACV 2023 Doctoral Consortium
Overview
The Doctoral Consortium provides a unique opportunity for students, who are close to finishing or who have recently finished their doctoral degree, to interact with experienced researchers in computer vision. All students and mentors will attend the Doctoral Consortium meeting, giving the students an opportunity to discuss their ongoing research and career plans with their mentor. In addition, each student will present a poster, either describing their thesis research or a single recent paper, to the other participants and their mentors.
Application Process
Applicants must be close to graduating (within two years of defending their dissertation) or recently graduated (defended within the last six months). Priority will be given to applicants with well-formed thesis plans that are earlier in their studies. Students that meet the eligibility requirements should submit an application via CMT. Please follow the instructions and submit the following as a single pdf file:
- CV
- Research Statement: summarize your thesis research and progress to date (< 2 pages)
- Confirmation Letter: a signed letter from your PhD advisor that confirms your actual/estimated graduation date
There are also several additional questions in CMT that you must answer.
Please ensure that all elements are included in the application; incomplete applications will be rejected.
Awards
The exact amount of the award is yet to be determined but will likely include a waiver for conference registration fees and some travel funding.

- Doctoral Consortium event: TBD (will take during lunch on one of the main conference days)
Event Details
Our plan is to hold the Doctoral Consortium as an in-person meeting. This would include a poster session in which each PhD student presents the main contributions of their thesis research (or a selected paper). Each student will be paired with a mentor, who will be a senior researcher, so that they can have a deep discussion of their research and career plans/goals. If necessary, we will also include an option for those that are unable to attend in person.
Presentation Format
In general, we will follow the WACV guidelines, but additional information will be sent after acceptance.
