DEI Policy

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

The WACV community is strongly committed to addressing issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at our conference.  Diversity has many dimensions, including gender, race, ethnicity, age, disabilities, religious belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and cultural background.  There is no place for hatred and discrimination in the WACV community or elsewhere.

For WACV 2023, the DEI Chairs are working with other members of the organizing committee to help foster a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable conference.  Specifically, we will encourage the following:

- improve diversity and inclusion in workshop and tutorial organizers and invited speakers by including diversity, equity, and inclusivity as part of the evaluation criteria;

- encourage the submission of workshop and tutorial proposals that examine problems in equity, diversity, and inclusion from a technical perspective;

- support for students to attend WACV from communities that do not traditionally attend through travel grants and waived registration fees.

We are now accepting applications from people who have not attended WACV before.  You can apply for complimentary registration for in-person or online.  The deadline for applying is November 15th, 11:59 PM PST.

If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback related to DEI efforts at WACV 2023 or would like to get involved, please contact the DEI co-chairs (Matthew Brown or Kiana EHsani) by email at  WACV2023_dei@googlegroups.com.

WACV 2023 is now accepting applications for travel grants. Allocation is based on a combination of need, contribution to the meeting, where you are traveling from, advisor support, and supporting communities that are underrepresented at WACV. Decisions will be made on a rolling basis, so please apply soon and no later than 11/15 at 11:59 PST.
